About HP Soundcraft

My name is, John Hightower and I have been DJing Professionally since the beginning of 2022.

I have had a passion for music my entire life. I grew up in a household of “Karaoke Junkies” who loved to sing and play Stevie Ray Vaughn on the old school Sega-Saturn in order to clean the house as a family project. I started Playing guitar when I was around 10, but it was when I had my first music editing program that changed my whole world.

I have played in Metal bands as both Guitarist and Vocalist and released a few solo albums under the name “Penholder”. Which is generally a mix of acoustic and Industrial music more in the Goth rock vibe.

All while the music I create is dark and un-danceable, The music that I like to play for other people is the polar opposite. I think balance is important and in doing what I love, it is no different. I’m particularly familiar with Old Country, New Country, Funk, Oldies, Classic Rock, Metal, Hip-hop, Rap, Disco, EDM, 90s Pulse Techno, Grunge, 90s Alternative, POP. I am currently learning and finding a love for more Hispanic music like Cumbia, Reggaeton, Salsa, Mariachi, Tejano, and Meringue.

I’m always down to learn new music, Which is why this feels like such a great opportunity for me.

I do have a day job. I work for the University of Texas Medical Branch repairing wheelchairs.

I have 4 Awesome kiddos and Amazing Wife.

I am also an alumni of The DJ Connect which is a training program for DJs to learn and master the skills of scratching, Beatmatching and other DJ tricks. I am always wanting to better my skillset and just be better at what I do.
